I can’t work it out. My weight fluctuates for no reason. This week I put on 1.5lbs.
I’m going to have to start a food diary and get someone to read over it to find out where I’m going wrong.
I though I had had a good week too.

A friend of mine (Thanks Lucy!) pointed out that it had been a long time since I updated the blog. I guess you could say it’s because I’ve not had a great month! I have fallen behind my target and am now 5lbs behind. This basically means that I have to lose more than 2lbs a week for the next few weeks to make it up!
I have been through weeks of maintaining and even putting on a little after the RI Convention in Birmingham (which I wasn’t too bothered about!) and so knew that I had to start making more of an effort. I bought a wii. I have wanted one for quite some time and decided that the time was now – buy it and a Wii Fit and a ‘game’ or two and get some exercise done.
I guess it must have worked, if only a little bit as I had another big loss this week – 3lbs. This take me to my first half a stone and something I want to celebrate ..!

7lbs LOST
First of all, my apologies for not updating the blog as much as I intended to! The main reason for this has been the overwhelming number of emails and enquiries that I have been dealing with for Knickers 4 Africa! Due to some publicity in National magazines, we have been getting many emails on a daily basis (as well as deliveries!) and I have been trying to keep up with them so that I don’t get too far behind!
Over 120 emails were received last week, all from ladies all over the country wanting to get involved and we have estimated that we have received over 750 items in the post this week too! PHEW!
To get onto the important stuff (!), this week, I have maintained the same weight as last week. I had a bit of a naughty weekend and really didn’t pay too much attention to what I was eating on Friday and Saturday! I am actually quite happy that I have not put any on and have vowed that this week will be another good one!
I am off to the Rotary International Convention this week to present to the Rotaract Pre-Convention party about my life in Rotaract and how it has made a difference to my life, ending with a bit of information about Knickers 4 Africa. I am really looking forward to it, but know that temptation will be everywhere! I am planning on taking a load of fruit with me to avoid as much as possible!
Take a look on the right for an update on the sponsorship tally!
Well the first week went quite quickly, which is good! I made a decision to not eat sweets or chocolate and was successful in completing a whole week – which I am very proud about!
Now onto the numbers… this week I have managed to lose a total of 4lbs! I ak really quite pleased with this as I havent put all of my energy into it so know that there is room for improvement!
Unfortunately, I have had to put off seeing the personla trainer until the end of the month due to money constraints, but plan to go to a class at the gym sometime this week ..!
I reckon I must have lost at least 1lb yesterday, through stress, sweat and the fact that I didn’t eat much either!
I have had a quiet couple of days on the diet front – I say that, but I am still on track, which is great for me! I am also sitting here looking at the chocolate bars that my mum keeps putting in my lunchbox, and I have not eaten and don’t intend to! If I can make it to the end of the week without having had one bit of chocolate, I will be really proud of myself. I’m not really a choc-o-holic, but I do eat a fair bit!
I received an email from a Round Table friend of mine about The Chiltern Challenge that they run every year. It is a sponsored walk in aid of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and starts at their base in Saunderton. You get the choice of walking 2.5, 5, 10 or 20 miles in the gorgeous Chiltern countryside and I would love to give it a go. It happens on Sunday 28th June, which is a mere 3.5 weeks away so I would be looking to do one of the smaller ones. Unfortunately, you need to be in a team of 4 people so need members to join my team!
If you would like to know more, please take a look at the website, and if you want to join in and help me on my way to losing my first stone, please email me and let me know! I am happy to pay the fee so all you have to do is turn up (and get sponsorship if you can!).
I have also booked my induction at the Gym – I am really looking forward to it – strange I know, but I’m in the mood for it! I am slo aiming to go to Aqua aerobics on Sunday too – GO ME!
I’ve been getting a lot of people asking about how things are going, which is lovely, if not a little hard to answer! The first 2 days have been quite good; I have resisted all the lovely sweet things sitting around the office and even have some on my computer in front of me. At first I thought I wouldn’t be able to cope, but I am proud at how I have – every time I look at it it’s me making a decision not to eat it and that’s quite a step!
I went to visit a personal trainer today to see if I thought she could help me with the challenge. She was really lovely and I am signing up for 4 weeks at least. She is going to help with nutrition as well as exercise and I’m kinda looking forward ot being pushed a little!
I also have a great update on the sponsorship total. Take a look on the right —>
My dad has been ultra generous .. but put some pressure on too!
I know I promised pics, but I decided to leave them until I have another to show alongside it .. hopefully in a month or so ..?!
I couldn’t sleep last night and I think it was because of the pressure I have put upon myself with this diet. There’s no denying that I need to lose weight but 7 months… PHEW! I have also been telling everyone I see about it which makes sure I will stick to it, but also means that I have to do it now – there are far too many people that would know that I failed!
There is an up-side to this though – everyone has been really generous, both with their money, help and advice. To date, I have been pledged over £200, which is great … but there is always room for more! I have been debating getting the local paper involved but maybe that’s taking things a little too far …!
So, I weighted myself this morning and was a little shocked as I am now the heaviest I have ever been – even more of an incentive to get going! For obvious reasons, I don’t feel comfortable sharing the exact weight here, but I will be posting my progress every Monday. Some friends have suggested I take pictures along the challenge so that it can be visualised, so I plan to take some tonight so that I can post them tomorrow.
I have set myself a few targets along the way and will celebrate each of these as they happen; Every 7lbs, 10% lost, 20% lost and a special milestone of 3 Stone 3lbs loss which will mean that I am back to my ‘Post-Uni’ weight before I started sitting down for a living!
Thank you all so much for your friendly words and encouragement and please do come back often!
I have been promising to lose weight for most of my life, but now I really must, not only for the future of my health, but also because I have told too many people about this sponsored slim to pull out! Together with a good friend of mine, I run a small charity called Knickers 4 Africa and we have had many very generous donations of knickers and other items that we are hoping to send to Africa in the near future. The only problem is … getting them there with so little cash reserves!
We have had a few cash donations in the last year or so that we have been active but nowhere near as much as we need, or would like! This got me thinking and I decided to use it as the proverbial carrot and get on with raising some money for a great cause!
So here we are; the basics of the challenge are below! Please come back to find out how I’m getting on and consider sponsoring me or donating some money for Knickers 4 Africa!
Start Date: Monday 1st June 2009
End Date: Friday 27th December 2009
Total Number of Weeks: 30 (210 Days)
Weight loss Aim: 4 Stone (2lbs a week with 2 ‘free’ weeks!)
Wish me luck!
